How's the anesthesia job market in the SF Bay Area in 2022?

In one word: Great. If you can afford it.

Due to early retirements (Covid) and insane housing prices, anesthesiologists in the SF Bay Area are moving out and moving on. New grads are being priced out of the Bay. Combine that with the same trends affecting CRNAs, and you have a severe shortage of anesthesia providers. From Marin County all the way down to Gilroy, most, if not all, anesthesia groups are actively hiring-- this includes that big group that starts with K. This is the strongest job market I've seen in the last 12 years.

Thinking about moving to California from out of state? You need a reality check! Single family houses in desirable neighborhoods cost well over $1,000 per square foot--and that's if you can outbid numerous other buyers. At one recent open house in San Jose, so many people showed up that they had to WAIT IN LINE to get into the house.

So, yes, the job market is great and looks to be that way for the foreseeable future. Get out there!
